Professor Jonas Hjort (IDE ‘06) to return to present on campus

Prof Jonas Hjort (IDE '06) will return to campus on Monday, December 4th to present his paper on  Vertical Integration, Supplier Behavior, and Quality Upgrading Among Exporters in the Development Workshop. The Workshop will take place from

2:30pm - 4:00pm in Room 106, 28 Hillhouse Ave

and attendees are welcome to talk to the speaker in the Development Tea directly after the talk.  Professor Hjort joined Columbia Business School in 2012. Before coming to Columbia, Professor Hjort received a BSc Economics from the London School of Economics, Jonas then joined IDE in 2006 and got his Ph.D. in Economics from UC Berkeley.

His research spans issues in development, labor and behavioral economics, with a particular focus on topics in their intersection. In recent work Professor Hjort has analyzed, for example, the consequences of ethnic heterogeneity for production in firms in East Africa. Hjort teaches the course The Private Sector and International Development.
