Dean Karlan (Ph.D. Economics, MIT, 2002). Director, IDE Program. Dean’s research agenda focuses on using randomized evaluations to learn what social policies work, what do not, and why. Most of his work is in developing countries and typically examines efforts to improve financial inclusion for the poor. His research also includes studying charitable fundraising, voting, education and behavioral economics.
Michael Boozer (Ph.D. Economics, Princeton University, 1995). Director of Graduate Studies, IDE Program. Mike’s areas of work and student advising span applied econometrics, particularly as applied to microeconomic issues in development, environmental economics, and public health.
Louise Danishevsky has been at Yale for over 40 years and has been the Administrator of the IDE Program for 10 years. She loves the opportunity to interact and work with the students who hail from all over the world. She lives in Hamden with her husband Shraga; they have three sons and four granddaughters.
